Ahh… St Stephen’s Green. Dublin’s urban oasis. It’s a special place at this time of year as its trees burst back to leaf. The highlight for us: The magnificent Magnolia tree that shades Countess Markievicz in the right hand corner of the park. See it now in full bloom, branches heaving with giant white flowers – Stunning. Be quick though, you have a limited window to witness it in all its glory. A couple more weeks and the Magnolia’s dazzling show will be done for another year.

The Magnolia tree is a special plant in more aspects than its eye-catching blossoms. Magnolia is one of Earth’s most ancient plants, existing even before there were bees to pollinate it! (To this day, only beetles can pollinate it). 100 million years of natural selection have made it the fabulous specimen it is today. It has been appreciated by civilizations throughout history: from ancient China and Japan to the Aztecs, Magnolia has been used for medical and ornamental purposes. Today, the trees are indigenous to Southern China and the south of the United States, where it is State Flower of Louisiana and Mississippi.

The Magnolia flower is instantly recognisable. Its large size (3-12 inches) is the first thing to stand out. The next: Its tepals. That’s not a misspelling; the magnolia flower has no petals. Instead, its bud opens up like a mandarin into segments called tepals. And then there’s the colour: A delicate shade that typically veers between off-white and rosy pink (some species are purple or yellow). Being such splendid flower, the Magnolia is considered symbol of nobility, perseverance, dignity, love of nature… It is, to summarise, a great ambassador and adornment for your office.

Magnolia Flowers for your Workplace

The Magnolia is a creature of the wild and genetically ill-equipped for interior living. The best way to enjoy it indoors is through flower arrangements. Even then, the blossoms are very seasonal and short-lived. If you want display Magnolias long-term then artificial silk flowers are your best bet. Modern technology means Magnolias silk reproductions are incredibly life-like. Hence the reason why Mummie Plants’ Magnolias are one of our most popular silk flowers.

A silk Magnolia arrangement carefully styled within an elegant planter can sweeten the mood of a room all year round. The flowers look outstanding when combined with some of our preserved moss and branches. Like all our plants they are tailor-made to perfectly fit with your building’s unique planting spaces and decor. They can be designed to enliven reception desks, welcoming lobbies or office shelving/partitions. Call us on 01 296 4540 to discuss what we can make possible for you.
