Certus, the dynamic new financial services outsourcing company, recently commissioned Mummie Plants to freshen up the foliage in their St. Stephen’s Green office. The Challenge: Audit the existing office plants collection of a high-profile headquarters building. Propose an alternative mix of interior plants and planters to enhance HQ interior design and atmosphere and eliminate the annual costs of plant maintenance.

Working in consultation with Certus’ Facilities Managers, Mummie Plants pinpointed a change in planters as being central to an uplift in appearance. The assortment of different plant species on display was also a source of disharmony. The variety of plant shapes, conditioning and states of growth made for a disjointed and underwhelming overall effect.

New Planters
We started by upgrading the planters. The existing stainless steel lobby planters were functional but at only 50cm high were too short for a cavernous space. Instead, we went for an almost double-height (90cm) planter from our off-the-shelf Pots & Planters range. We chose a warm, natural, textured stone finish to replace cold steel and better complement the rippled stone tiling of the lobby walls.

Employing a single style of container with plants of equal height creates a strong uniformity and architectural balance that creates a striking first impression for Certus when you now enter their building.

New Plants
We chose our preserved grasses for the lobby – their rich texture, vibrant colour and inviting personality make them ideal plants for extending a warm welcome, promoting employee wellbeing and projecting a fresh and aspiring corporate identity. To achieve a more open feel we used grasses with sun-bleached tips and a natural inclination to cascade. Mummie Plants grasses don’t need soil so we capped the planter with a tasteful flecked-stone gravel.

Office Fit-Out
Next to the lift lobbies. We went for grasses again but, this time, used Coratderia Selloana (Pampas) plumes to add height, depth and spectacle and large round Anthracite pots to add presence. For the executive-level offices we wanted a characterful, energetic-looking plant that would double-job as a screening device. The answer: elegant Phoenix Roebelenii palms in glossy black pillar planters.

For financial experts Certus it made total sense to switch from regular plants to Mummie Plants to save the costs and hassles of maintenance. If you, too, would like your plants to look healthy and vibrant all year round without any intervention just give us a call and we will take it from there: 01 296 4540.
